Starting your small business is a lot like embarking on a new relationship.
It’s energizing and exciting. You spend A LOT of time with your new business, and you cater to it on hand and foot (putting out fires, working long hours…whatever it takes). You’re putting in 110% percent, because you want everything to work out.
But just like with a new relationship, there’s an expected transformation point where the “head-over-heels” phase settles into something that supports you and your lifestyle.
However, it seems far too often (from what I see from the people I speak to), practice owners never learn how to stop serving their business. They’re still seeing patients in the early morning, catching up on notes at the end of the day… telling their family: “I’ll just go in for a few hours” on the weekends…the serving and serving never ends.
Well, I’m going to dish out some “tough love” and tell you: it’s time to break this cycle.
Check out this week’s video post for my one tip that will help you to transform the one-sided relationship you’ve been having with your business into something that is going to serve YOU and YOUR lifestyle:
