It’s Time to Address the Fear That’s Costing You Thousands of Dollars

I was in Florida recently, getting ready to speak in front of a BIG group of practice owners about marketing and PT practice management, when it hit me… an attack of my nerves.

My palms began to sweat. My heart rate picked up. I was afraid of all the things that might go wrong: What if my message doesn’t connect with the crowd? What if I lose my train of thought? What if the lights are too bright, and I’m up there squinting, or the room is too hot, and I start to sweat?

I’m guessing this is likely something that has happened to you, too.

Most of us have experienced some kind of performance anxiety or stage fright, whether we’re stepping onto a stage at a conference in front of 300 of our peers (gulp!), or sitting down with a handful of potential referral sources. 

While it may seem easier to shrink from the spotlight, this fear is costing you thousands of dollars, and it’s worth addressing.

The reality is, getting in front of people is a powerful way to establish yourself as an authority figure and go-to expert in your community.

So how to do you calm those public-speaking nerves so you can make connections and develop relationships that strengthen and grow your business?

It’s about getting your attention off yourself—and on to the people you’re connecting with.
