Who doesn’t want to be able to generate new patients? Imagine controlling the flow of NP’s in your practice just like turning on and off a faucet?

Depending on your situation, this might seem like a pipe dream. However, I can assure you that there are Private Practice Owners not far from you who DO NOT need more New Patients!
- Are these Owners smarter than you?
- Do these Owners have better manual skills than you do?
I doubt it!
So why do some Owners have too many NP’s for their staff to handle while others (most practices) have too few?
The simple answer can be best described in this short story.
When I first started my practice, my mindset was all about what I have to do to grow the numbers! I treated most of the patients even if I had other providers working for me because I was able to generate family and friends referrals. I also scheduled time especially when the practice was slow to visit doctors so they would refer me patients.
My mindset of “I” led my actions to look for solutions that required me to be intimately involved.
The greatest lesson I’ve ever learned was to stop thinking in terms of “I” and start solving the new patient problem in terms of “we”.
I started to ask better questions like,
“How can we increase our NP’s without having the Owner (me) doing everything?”
This question led me to different answers and thus different actions!
Instead of being the only person who could fill his own schedule and create relationships with potential referral sources, I started to create processes that anyone who was trained could do.
This exploded my NP’s and grew the practice almost 500% over the next several years.
